Leaks & high water bills

Water bill too high? You could be paying for a leak you can’t see

Most leaks stay hidden. A running toilet, a cracked pipe under the slab or a failing tap connection can waste thousands of litres before you notice. We find the source and fix it with as little mess as possible.

Check for a hidden leak in 2 minutes

1

Turn everything off

Every tap and water-using appliance in the house.

2

Read the meter

Usually near the front boundary. Note the reading or watch the small dial.

3

Wait

15 to 30 minutes without using any water.

4

Check again

If the reading has moved, water is escaping somewhere. Give us a call.

Other signs of a leak

  • Damp patches, bubbling paint or mould on walls or ceilings
  • A toilet that keeps running or refilling
  • Soggy ground or a patch of extra-green grass
  • Low water pressure
  • The sound of running water when everything is off

Common questions

Why is my water pressure low?

It could be a leak, a faulty pressure-limiting valve, a partly closed stop tap or corroded pipes. We test the pressure at the meter and work back from there.

Will you have to dig up my floor?

Not usually. We pinpoint the leak first so any access is as small as possible.
