Carbon monoxide testing
Is your gas heater leaking carbon monoxide? The only way to know is to test it
Carbon monoxide (CO) is invisible, odourless and dangerous. Faulty or poorly maintained gas heaters are a common source in Victorian homes. We test every gas appliance, explain the results and fix any problem we find.

Symptoms right now?
If anyone has headaches, dizziness or nausea while the heater is on, turn it off, open windows, get everyone outside and call 000.
Book a test if
- You have an open-flued gas heater or wall furnace
- Your heater hasn’t been serviced in two years or more
- People feel headaches, drowsiness or nausea when the heater is on, and it eases when they leave the room
- You see soot or staining around the heater
- You’ve just moved into a home and don’t know the service history
What happens during a test
1
Run it like you do
Each appliance runs under normal conditions, with exhaust fans and doors set the way you use them.
2
Measure
A calibrated analyser measures CO at the appliance and in the room.
3
Inspect
We check flues, ventilation and the heat exchanger.
4
Clear results
You get a pass or fail for each appliance and, if something fails, options to repair or replace.
A carbon monoxide test is included free with every gas heater service we do.
